OpenAI Developing X-like Social Network

OpenAI is reportedly developing a social network similar to X, according to multiple sources. The network would rival major platforms like X and Facebook. An internal prototype focused on ChatGPT’s image generation, featuring a social feed, already exists, although the project is only in the early stages. The launch plans for the platform are unclear and could either be integrated within the existing ChatGPT software or as a separate app. ChatGPT is currently one of the most popular applications in the US, being the most-downloaded app in March 2025. CEO Sam Altman has been privately seeking feedback on the project but has yet to comment publicly.
